Season 2018

The 2018 summer league’s season will begin  on Sunday, May 27th 2018 from 12pm to 3pm at Louis Riel’s Park.

The league is open to all lovers of tennis, regardless of their level of play. Players are free to show up as often or as seldom as they wish throughout the season without committing themselves. We try to match players according to their levels in order to make the games as interesting as possible for all.

Where: At Tennis Louis Riel on the corner of du Quesne and Gérin-Lajoie streets in Mercier Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough.

How to get there: By car, go east on Sherbrooke or Notre-Dame street all the way to du Quesne street. Turn left on du Quesne until Gérin-Lajoie and you are there. By public transportation, it is a waklable distance (10 minutes) from Cadillac metro station. Go up on Cadillac street untill you reach Géri-Lajoie street.  Turn right on Gérin-Lajoie to Louis Riel’s park.

When: Every Sunday, from 12pm to 3pm.  We have 6 courts reserved for our league.

Weather: If if rains, there is no tennis. If you are in doubt, check out MTL’s Facebook page before leaving to play. We will try and post last minute cancellations to the extent possible.

How does it work: As last year, reservations will be taken through a doodle system. You may play up to 3 hours, then you have to validate your schedule for one, two or three hours.

For instance, if you want to play from noon to 2pm, you must check the first two cases.

Match play: The majority of the matches are doubles. Singles may be available depending on court availability and player numbers. Unless otherwise agreed by the players, matches are played in accordance with the Rules of the Court (Tennis Canada).

Fees: Participants are required to belong to Montreal Tennis Lambda. The annual membership fee is $5 and is valid for all league activities. New members will be receive an Equipe Montreal membership card, gaining access to various discounts from Equipe Montreal sponsors. Then each player pays $5 each Sunday, regardless of the number of hours played on that day. New balls are provided by the league each week. Without a membership card, you will have to pay $10.

Rule: Players participate at their own risk. The organizers are not responsible for accidents, injuries, thefts or whatever perils may befall those who participate.

Person in charge: Daniel Bellavance (picture) and Vincent Paré are responsible of this recreational league. If you have any question, don’t hesitate to send them an email, they will get back to you as soon as possible. Same thing for your comments, suggestions and special requests, they are welcomed and appreciated. We will make note of all comments and endeavour to accommodate all requests insofar as possible.
